Glass Bead Making For Beginners at Mulranny - Saturday 19th June 2010
Making glass beads involves working on a 'torch' (actually a burner). You will be comfortable with it in no time at all. During the two days of workshop you will cover all the basics for confident and easy beadmaking; preparing the mandrels around which the molten glass is wound, lighting up the torch and working in the flame, shaping the glass for your desired shape of round, tabular, barrel or bi-cone. You will learn to pull stringers (thin rods for decorating) to make dots and lines, which can be manipulated into all kinds of patterns and designs on the surface of your bead. It is all about temperature, timing and gravity. You will have a choice of colors and soon will be enjoying the mesmerizing transformative process of working molten glass to make beads.
Price €75.00 10am till 4pm
Includes: Tuition and supplies and lunch.
